Memo to School Board Election Candidates
Two seats will be open for Board Members to be elected on April 2, 2024. Those selected will serve a three-year term beginning April 22, 2024 through April 26, 2027.
For those wishing to declare candidacy for the 2024 School Board Election, packets of election documents may be picked up starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023. Candidates are required to file a Campaign Finance Registration Statement (CF-1), and a Declaration of Candidacy (EL-162sd) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Forms must be filed with the School District Assistant Sue Patterson; contact information sue.patterson@greendaleschools.org or 414-423-2702. The District Office is located at 6815 Southway in Greendale, and is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note the filing office will be closed November 23-24, 2023 and December 25, 2023, through January 1, 2024. The filing office will be open until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, for the candidate filing deadline. Contact information for Board Clerk Joe Crapitto: joe.crapitto@greendaleschools.org.
School Board Academy - For those that are eligible and interested in becoming candidates for the School Board Election, please consider attending the School Board Academy meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 in the Conference Room of the District Office located at 6815 Southway in Greendale. At this meeting, potential candidates will meet with the Superintendent, Director of Business Services and the School Board President to learn about filing and functioning as a candidate and the Commitment of a Board of Education Member.

Who is eligible to be a candidate?
From Greendale Schools’ Board Policy 142.1: An elector in the District is eligible to be a Board member. At the time of filing the Declaration of Candidacy, a candidate shall meet applicable age, citizenship, residency and voting qualifications including: eighteen years of age or over, a citizen of the United States and a resident of the School District of Greendale for at least 28 consecutive days just prior to submitting the Declaration of Candidacy and prior to taking office on the 4th Monday in April.
Primary Election
If five or more candidates file for the open seats, then a Primary Election will be held on February 20, 2024, and the four highest-ranking candidates from the primary election will have their names placed on the ballot for the Spring Election.
Candidate Forum and Candidate Profile
Candidates may be asked to provide information for a Board Candidate Profile that would be available to the community. A non-profit group(s) may host a Board Candidate Forum for election candidates to participate in. A past forum can be viewed here.
Campaigning, Campaign Signs, Handouts/Flyers, and Mailers
Candidates will also want to familiarize themselves with pertinent State laws and municipal ordinances with respect to distribution and posting of campaign material or signs near the school buildings, which are polling places in our community. Links to this information are as follows:
