Transition Services are those services provided by Greendale Schools' Special Education Department that prepare and support students with disabilities throughout their school years to prepare them for when they exit the K-12 education system. Outcomes may include, but are not limited to:
self-determination
self-advocacy
vocational training
employment
recreation and leisure
post-secondary education
independent living
Transition planning helps students with disabilities and their families think about their student's life after high school.
Greendale Schools Special Education programming provides the highest quality in transition support services to students with disabilities, with a focus on developing each student’s skills, understanding of preferences, interests, and developing self-determination and self-advocacy skills necessary for successfully achieving their post-secondary goals. We aim to provide a continuum of transition services to students to develop their skills and help them achieve their highest level of independence. Our vision is to engage and empower students with disabilities to achieve their full potential. It is in influencing four critical connections between students, the school, support systems, and community where our mission will be achieved. In Greendale Schools, we value each student’s unique characteristics, talents, interests, and desires, and the potential in every individual to achieve personal success and overcome any barriers.
