On behalf of the entire staff at Greendale High School, welcome! I am honored and excited to return for my eighteenth year as the principal at GHS. Working together with teachers, parents, and students, I look forward to leading the momentum of continuous growth that embodies what we try to do here at GHS. Our overarching goal is to provide each student with the best possible preparation allowing him or her to make an informed choice on which path is right to follow after graduation.
We have much to be proud of:
- We are proud to say that we believe that 100% of our graduating students have a plan upon leaving high school – with over 90% into some type of 1,2 or 4 college, with some going into the military, some into the world of work, and others into apprenticeship-type trainings.
- Greendale High School was named, for the sixteenth straight year, into the Top High Schools in the United States by Newsweek magazine in its measure of student readiness for advanced level study and rigorous academic achievement.
- According to the last DPI's Report Card, GHS's Exceeds Expectations is solidly at the top of WI high schools.
- Our performing arts, world languages, theater, athletics, and activities are often awarded state and national recognition for excellence – and really have an impressive breadth of choices for our students in relation to the size of our school and district.
- Our standardized test scores allow our teachers the freedom to be academically creative and do what’s right for students in their classrooms.
These accomplishments are indicative of the pride this staff has in doing good work with all students each day. It is indicative of a community that wants and supports good schools. It is indicative of the students themselves, coming to school mainly for academic purposes, but also enjoying a quality, fun, comprehensive experience.
All of this is possible because of the positive, focused relationship between teachers, parents, administration, community, and the students. The challenge is to keep moving forward and I know we are all ready to work for that. That is my mission: to bolster these strong relationships and to continue to seek out new opportunities for our school, our students, and their learning.
Thanks for your continued collaboration, your support, and your high expectations that drive all we do. We are proud to be "Panthers" and invite you to look over our website, visit us, or call 414-423-0110 to find out more about the Greendale High School learning community.
Sincerely,
Steven J. Lodes, Principal
